Any need for coding?

Post by James2000 » Wed Aug 08, 2018 6:08 pm

Hello,

I have just got my BMW 1 series 116i M 09' if that's useful at all?
The dealer switched my HU from another E87 as mine was broke so I assume thats where it began.

The USB option isn't an option on the 'professional' HU whereas the AUX is an option.
I have both AUX and USB slot under the arm rest but the AUX doesn't work.
However the USB slot charges.

I have tried multiple aux cables and devices but there is no sound.

I've given up on the AUX working and decided that coding the head unit for USB seems to be the best option.
If I get this option, will I be able to play music through only the USB?

BMW have quoted me £89 + VAT  to do this and want to be sure that the USB will allow audio play before I have it done.
I have considered doing it myself but really don't trust myself and only have a Mac book no windows device.

Thank you,
James

P.s. would the snap-in adaptor work for audio as a last resort?
