More the better, you want to get your chassis nice and low before measuring up with a ruler.

Literally wherever is the clearance tightest between tyre and car.

Probably top middle, but could be near the bumper, or part way down the arch.

Ok the fatties have spoken and there is next to f@ck all clearance. I have now bought some 208m with the correct offsets front 49 and rear 52 with tyres 215/40 on front and 245/35 rear.

As these are genuine BMW please tell me they will fit?

Thought as much, is was always going to be a bit tight.

208m are an OEM fit, with room for snowchains if needed.

I'd mount those with 225/40/18 92Y front and 255/35/18 94Y rear, next time you need tyres.
