LED reversing bulbs
Yes or No? :?:

I have just fitted white LED reversing bulbs to the car today. They look really good when on in the car but they don't really light up behind the car as well as normal bulbs when the car is in reverse dispite them looking super bright to look at.

They also ping up on the car dash that a bulb has blown because there is less resistance to illuminate LED bulbs. (easy fix)

The pictures don't really shown much difference as it is in day light, Just look a little whiter.

LEFT BULB - NORMAL
RIGHT BULB - LED

LED

NORMAL (bad pic)

Both LED

Should i keep the LED bulbs in because they look better or replace the origonals because the actully do a better job of lighting up behind the car ??????? :?:

Both look alright - but its handy when reversing in the dark to have the brighter light.

yeah, tha is a fair point., seeing where you are going is slightly important. it looks better with LEDs though.
i recon i should keep the LEDs in so when i back up into that bollard i didn't see at least my 1er would have looked good whilst i crashed it

I want a bit of a change. As spare cash doesn't grow on trees, Im thinking about rather than change the wheels this summer, I might just get them dip/powder coated a kind of matt black colour....
What do you think? Your honest opinions please.....

Risk is making your small wheels look smaller when you go black.....

Very rough edit, with a dark grey finish with some online picture editor as I dont have photoshop on my machine :(

Fantastic ! :D Thanks for taking the time to do that. I think it looks good but I agree it does just make the wheels look smaller !

No worries Si... I look at it like this.... you could spend £40 (minimum) a corner getting them coated... Thats £160 towards a set of new alloys

It is a very valid point. I just wish I had the Remaining £900 odd spare now to slash out on some new rims. I'm so impatient :-)

Nice pictures, your car looks the same colour as mine in some shots, though!

You haven't editted out the "F12" from your plate in a couple of shots and also show what I presume to be the original plate.

Like the model too - wonder if I can get one in green.

How was the lap of the 'ring? Any hairy moments?

Cheers mate, I have seen the F12 but haven't pulled my finger out and changed it yet, But then again you've seen the video with it in so there isn't really much point is there ( I didn't really think that through when i spent ages editing nearly every other picture :-)

The model was from BMW parts dept. Ask them for a model cataloge, There are loads of colours for sale. Shame i cant find cataloge so i could tell you if they have green now. it was only £15.

Everyone should go round the ring at least once in your life. It was the single most amazing time of my life (booked to go again this summer) I was ok but my mate filming behind had a hairy moment on another lap with a nutty guy in a caterham lol

Its great, you just go as fast as you feel you can or want to. It was so relaxed. Heaven !!!!
Book it now :-)

Cheers Remy, we should start a "mini 1ers" forum site, nerding off with our models like a right pair of geeks lol
I love the model but i do acknowledge its a bit F**cking sad

Yeah, that was my 1st time to the ring but i lived to tell the story and am returning ASAP ! (summer)
I felt a little sick with nerves whilst in the line waiting to get on the track every lap, but as soon as you floor it at the start and cover all the poor bikers behind in a cloud soot from the rear end, you forget you are scared shitless and start having more fun than you ever have in your 1er before.
You have got to do it. It will be even better in your car!

Cheers, It did feel really solid. Ive seen and heard all the talk about the "ultimate driving machine" etc but didn't think to much about it the whole 50/50 weight distrobution, but when you start tp push the 1ers past your comfort zones they really do hang on very well, way past my expectations for standard road run flat tires and little standard wheels. I wasn't brave enough to turn the DTC off on that trip but even then, it only flashed a handfull of times in one lap. I was doing around the 10 min 20 sec lap times so i wasn't hold back either.

As Ive said before to the others on here, Seriously go and do it as soon as you can, Take your time at 1st and enjoy it. It was so much fun, an absoulote MUST DO (esecially in a BMW 1 Series !!) :D
