Hi there,
I was looking into having the carplay coded to my M140's 2017 (NBT EVO, Idrive 5) head unit (I've installed a wifi antenna this weekend), but am conscious my car is due for a service within 3 months - as this is my first with the car (last service 2018) I suspect it will have full software update.
I know from reading up on the aftermarket coding of carplay that this will work fine until a dealer flashes a software update, which then bricks idrive until / unless it can then be reflashed due to the added FSC codes being overwritten
As part of your coding service beyond the carplay coding, do you also offer taking of a backup of all FSC codes and guidance on how to restore?
I have access to an OBD ethernet reader / compatible laptop etc and happy to buy Esys if this is required to enable restoring backup - I just don't want to risk a bricked head unit and / or have to pay to have the headunit repaired / recoded after each service.
