Since I last wrote my review for Defined Coding a few weeks ago my plans for the car accelerated somewhat. What was a longer term goal presented itself as something that could be done straight away.
I was bored with Lockdown Syndrome (im sure some of you can relate) and was looking around at BM3 licences, owners reviews on performance, car feel etc. It made me want more than the JB+ was giving me. I had always loved the extra poke but the power delivery was somewhat on or off. It was so unrefined it was hilarious. Fuel consumption was also fairly disastrous. But the time had come.
I knew Kyle was well priced but from what I could find, £420 was the cheapest out there by some margin (I already had a cable to use!). I spent a few minutes talking to Kyle about the differences between BM3 and MHD and it was clear that for me BM3 was the right option to choose. So I pulled the trigger and off we went. Licences arrived in my email within 30 minutes and excitement was through the roof. I got my laptop all set up as per usual (firewalls and av off), selected my map (Stage 2), customised it to my needs and went off to flash the car.
Long and the short of it is, 5 minutes into the process my car was now totally different, map flashed. COLD start now a thing of the past!
The first drive was brilliant, the power delivery is so good. I find it easier to drive sensibly and at the same time with the right provocation the car has a savage turn of speed. Grinning from ear to ear I let Kyle know all was well as he was just as excited as I was!
So, BM3 impressions;
Its got all the features I need.
30/45 seconds to update your preferences on cold start, GTS startup roar and burbles is fantastic
I can resell my licence or transfer to another car in the future.
I also love the security of using a laptop. Phones are great but I don't trust my iPhone's stability enough to be programming my ECU from it! lol
One thing I will say, the gearbox is now clearly the limiting factor, you can feel the torque limits playing a role in holding the car back. In time I will most likely look at xHP to change this, but for now. its perfect!
Thanks again Kyle.
Thank you! (AGAIN) - BM3
