Re: BMW E81 118d Tail Pipe

Weird, that looks exactly like mine except for the downturn. I've never noticed any like that before, I'm going to be looking for diesels on my way home now, to see if it's normal! On a personal note, I'm looking to do something about the hideous exhaust too. All the clip-over type I've seen seem to...

Re: Installing a subwoofer in a bmw E87

I've never connected a sub to the battery neg, they're usually earthed to the body of the car. (Anywhere you can find some bare metal.) But I don't know that much about electronics or car audio, if someone that knows more than I know says it's perfectly safe then definitely take their advice over mi...

Re: Headlight bulbs (just a quickie)

Thanks buddy!

I got bogged down with work and haven't even thought about it until I got in the car to go home, so no order placed yet!
I was looking at getting the nightbreaker laser ones, yeah. I'll have a look at the Phillips ones too if you recommend them that highly. Cheers!

Headlight bulbs (just a quickie)

I'm about to order some new bulbs as the nights are closing in and the ones in there at the mo are a bit dull and yellow. I might as well get some new full beams while I'm at it, refresh the whole shebang: Are the full beams a H7 bulb as well?

Re: New 1 series owner

The lack of cup holders annoys the hell out of my wife - and irritates me at times too - but I still haven't found an aftermarket solution I'm happy with, given how snug the cabin is. I'm always keen to hear if anyone has found something they're happy with! If you haven't got iDrive you could swap-...

Re: New 1 series owner

First thing I did was swap out the radio, mine had the "business" model and it's absolutely pants. I've got an android auto HU from pioneer in there now, it's a million times better but it's NOT cheap or easy! (Depending on your definition of easy, of course. If you're handy with electrics and takin...

There are 2-3 different versions

That'll be the one, middle left. What's the difference? Does the OP's car do something different to mine, hence the different controls?

Re: Pre-LCI to LCI Internal Equipment Upgrade

Weirdly, I'm fairly sure my e81 is LCI (2011, 11 reg) but my climate control panel looks nothing like that. It's the one with the three twisty knobs, that looks like it belongs in an old berlingo or something.

Re: E81 Boot manual boot opener not working

Someone else had the reverse problem on here recently, their badge was sticking and unlatching the boot every time they unlocked the car. Dig a bit deeper in the forum, there might be something useful on that thread. At the very least, it's pretty easy to get at the workings of the boot release by p...

Re: Considering a purchase, concerned about advisories

It's probably worth bearing in mind that not all garages are scrupulously honest, too. I took an old car to my local Kwik Fit for MOT and it came back with a huge list of advisories, none of which I bothered to get looked at because the car was worth less than my trainers. The following year I took ...

You definitely need to swap them out for a Dukes of Hazzard horn off ebay.

Re: What Did You Do To Your 1 Series Today?

Fitted a new pair of tailgate struts. Tailgate fully opens from the remote now :) Which struts did you buy ? I’m looking to replace my originals. My remote release only opens about a foot nowadays, and worse in the colder weather. I got these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-BMW-1-SERIES-HATCHBACK-E8...
