Re: F20 launch event

For some reason reversing sensors (essential on this car in my opinion) are optional on the sport but standard on the SE. . This isn't true, reversing sensors are extra on all models I believe :) You may be right having looked at the configurator.. My local dealer has not taken a single order for t...

Re: F20 launch event

I had a test drive today. I still don't like the front end though. I normally drive a 120d sport and test drove the 118d. The cabin is better but there are an awful lot of buttons in it. I tried the sport version and the one issue that I had was that every time I changed gear, I banged my elbow on t...

Re: F20 launch event

I am going for a test drive at Lloyds, Colne on Sunday. A salesman showed me around the car today and I sat in it front and back. I came away very impressed which I didn't think that I would. I was only in Lloyds to sort out winter tyres as I am sick of the performance on snow and the last few winte...

Re: European cruise

I'd completely forgotten about it. I have too much on my plate at the moment to do anything like this. However if anyone else is interested please feel free to have a go.

Re: Dynamic Stability Control warning light......? HELP!!

debi2002, I have to say that the ecu and the breather pipe are the ONLY faults that I have had in three and a half years. These two failures are not down to unreliability, so I think that you made a valid decision (assuming that you get the ecu fixed with goodwill of course).

Re: Dynamic Stability Control warning light......? HELP!!

I was told (several times) that as I had contributed something (part of the labour) to the repair I would get a 2 year warranty on the part. They said that if it had been 100% paid by BMW, I would not get a warranty on the part. It's worth checking where you are on this. :)

Re: Dynamic Stability Control warning light......? HELP!!

Hi Nolz, it's a bit like a reunion though I still lurk around and post occasionally.

They replaced it with a modified part, so make what you will of that. I don't think that there should be a problem getting goodwill on this one, BMW came back really quickly in my case and I didn't ask for it either.

Re: Dynamic Stability Control warning light......? HELP!!

Yes, typically the warranty ended in Dec 07. I didn't hold back on testing the difference in handling and couldn't feel anything, too much grip. Perhaps on snow it would be noticeable. As I said to the garage when they warned about it's lack of operation, that I managed the previous 25 years ...

Re: Dynamic Stability Control warning light......? HELP!!

It is a failure of the DSC ECU. I have been there, got the T shirt etc. :) I just had it fixed on Friday along with a hole in the fuel tank breather pipe. The first things to go wrong in three and a half years, but wrong in a big way!! The car is perfectly ok to drive with a busted DSC ECU, I couldn...

A great piece of work, very professional.

What did you make it with?

weasley,

It's not illegal to run without a spare or any way of fixing a puncture. It is illegal to have a spare that is defective or below minimum tread depth.

All the best with your meet, I think that you will have a great time. Don't forget to choose a challenging piece of road for a drive along and check out Spokeys pointers to organising a meet. At least you can have a picnic, if we did that we would have been drowned or washed away by galeforce winds ...

As we have seen on some of our meets, the rusty hub problem affects some cars and not others. I have little rust on my hubs after two years, but as you are pointing out other cars hubs become very rusty within a short period.
