Re: 116d clutch VS 120d clutch vs 123d clutch

How do you know your cloth is finished? Did the mechanic tell you? I need to know how to tell. Mine judders a bit sometimes, so I'm hoping not to have to change my flywheel as well?

Chinese tablet (as in the same model as the original poster's instruction) is still for sale in case anybody is interested. PM me for details.

How I fitted 7" Android tablet into my BMW sat nav unit.

Thanks for the detailed instructions which prompted me to even attempt this project, rabbitstew :) Originally I was going to fit samsung's galaxy mega 6.3inch. Which was going to offer similar results for 100pounds less. But the colour definition and the fact that it was only 720p made me go for xpe...

Re: What Did You Do To Your 1 Series Today?

Woah, that's awesome! looks like stock! Will have a read through your how to for definite later on. Yeah. That's what I was hoping to achieve from the onset ;). As in, to make it as oem look as possible but with the added functionalities like phone and HD video playback/stream, upgradable maps and ...

What Did You Do To Your 1 Series Today?

Did u do a build thread with pics? Sent from my GT-N7100 Aye. I did do a build thread. It follows on from rabbitstew's one. It's called something like 'How I fitted an android 7" tablet into a sat nav screen." I think this is the address: http://www.babybmw.net/viewtopic.php?t=46963" onclick="windo...

Re: What Did You Do To Your 1 Series Today?

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/25/matu7ynu.jpg I fitted an android 6.44inch xperia z ultra into a motorised sat nav screen casing (and can I say I'm proud of the results?). This was done with the help of rabbitstew post in the car entertainment section on this forum. I posted a brief how to, follo...

How I fitted 7" Android tablet into my BMW sat nav unit.

I also should mention that although the screen has volume up and down buttons, these can at all times be soft-accessed from the menus and system settings. Also android's home, menu and back buttons are soft accessed via android (unlike samsung variants). So these were never a concern and, currently,...

Re: How I fitted 7" Android tablet into my BMW sat nav unit.

On the magnetic charger lead front. You can see I took of the surrounding plastic cover with a cutter knife. It's got a pcb glued to plastic with the pins inside. On top, two +\- leads soldered to the two pins. Initially I thought I'd get a right angler micro usb cable and charge the tablet that way...

Re: How I fitted 7" Android tablet into my BMW sat nav unit.

I should point out that the tablet can do full HD resolution and has perfect vision with sun glare. It has hardly any surrounds around the screen either. Having a battery inside that you can charge via the magnetic dock has its pros and cons. On the one hand, when its on, it's always on, ready to fi...

Re: How I fitted 7" Android tablet into my BMW sat nav unit.

Btw, I used a dremel 4000series, which came with the right drill bit, and the sanding tools required to file the plastics down and cut the posts off.

Re: How I fitted 7" Android tablet into my BMW sat nav unit.

Well, here's how following these instructions and with a little bit of improv I managed to fit an xperia z ultra tablet instead. Perfect vision, no tablet opening and hacking required. Only drawback is having to power it up when battery falls below 0%. But I designed an extension to the power switch...

Re: CREE LEDS (3rd gen)

Not sure how much light they would actually throw out! Plus I don't think you will fit all that in the headlight so will prob have to drill holes in the back anyway. Hey, What's the real purpose of the headlight covers anyways? And how do you clean the inside of the headlights (transparent plastic)...
