stanmak, 225 width can go on to a 7" rim, no problems. 225 width is suitable for rims between 7" to 8½". My old wrx had 225/45R17 mounted on 17x7" rims.

130girl, both CS2 and GYSD3 had the 225/40 & 245/35. You know what? I only found the report after I made my decision meaning spent my money. Anyway, my pick was Rosso, CS2 or GYSD3. Rosso was out as they are the most expensive. I have used GYSD3 before and they don't last. So CS2 it was. :)

Rumple , since I have only done 2,000 km on the Conti CS2, my impression thus far: NHV, didn't notice any increase even though 205/225 to 225/245 Ride, dare I say 50% better Over road bumps (steel ones, terrible on RFT), you won't believe it until you experienced it. Grip (dry), much much ...

Rumple, great stuff. What sizes (width) did you get? I got Conti CS2 (18") a month ago & they are great.
Since I went wider, have definitely notice higher grip level both dry and wet. Ride has completely changed. Will be good to hear your reaction once you have the Conti mounted.

Don't get me wrong, putting 245/35R18 non-RFT has increased grip, but you can definitely oversteer that baby, no probs there! It's a matter of whether you want to or not. :D

dnyman, the mounting points are underneath the 4 covers on the roof. Take a look at this diagram. As you can see, they have a plastic protector to go on top of the mounting points so there are physically no contact apart from the screws. I paid 350 including GST.

dnyman , Rola also makes one for the 1er. I got the BMW original because they can carry more weight than Rola. I did not compare Thule as I don't know of it. The original ones are well made and after the first installation, I can now mount/dismount them in about 5 minutes. (4 bolts) The package als...
