118D Remap

Post by jonners » Sat Oct 22, 2016 7:57 pm

Hi there :)

Looking for a remap on my 118D E82 (143)

Spoken to a couple of tuning companies within my region.

Both are offering varying results when I have spoken to them on Facebook.

The most local one to me says

Stage 1 - 215bhp & 320ft lb @ £200
Stage 2 - 230bhp & 350ft lb (DPF and EGR Removal) @ £350#

Both stages are live tuned I have been told.

The chap does have a lot of decent reviews on Facebook 5/5

I did ask would the Car be ok running these kind of figures? They seem on the higher end of the scale? I was just going to opt for Stage 1 keeping things simple, however the majority of Stage 1 Maps top out at 190bhp? Anyway he did say his work would be guaranteed.

I know there is one place in Stockport that is very reputable.

Not sure what to do here?

Whereabouts are you roughly? Are you actually in Stockport? :?

I'd be wary of removing the DPF, the Ministry of Transport is cracking down on that.

I much prefer to keep things simple.

I'm looking for just a remap on my 118D.

It's a 2011 Car with around 39K miles.

However 215bhp from a remap alone? This can't be done surely? But the owner of the place reckons so.

I am in Rochdale. So call it 20-25 mile away from Stockport.

It does sound a bit like Pub-figures on a 'happy' dyno, I'd expect nearer 200bhp in reality (which will still drive rather nicely).

I'd go to P Torque in Wolverhampton personally.

Sometimes the extra travel makes it worthwhile. What do P Torque charge? Any idea?

I was looking for convenience here, I'm not advertising anyones work, but DDG is on my doorstep and does seem to have sterling reviews.

Thanks for your replies :)

Had mine done by DMS, 219bhp and 315lb/ft, mapped on the rolling road.

That a 118D?

What stage remap did you go for? Any other mods? What did they charge?

I am looking for stability, and don't want the Engine to go in limp mode or knacker up (Timing Chain snap).

Thanks

Yes a 118d, they said it was strong as standard. They offer two versions, mild or "full fat" which I went for. They expected about 205.
They're not the cheapest but offer full warranty back up, remapping if BMW reflash at any service for any reason. Best to contact them as I got a good price after speaking to them direct.

Just messaged DMS, but will look at P Torque also.

200bhp would be nice.

However with any of these remaps, do they cause the Car to use more fuel? Especially the 'full fat' or shall we say aggressive remaps?

Does the 118D have an Oil Cooler? Just kind of worried if not, and the Car is pushing out 200-220hp. If there isn't one, will this have a detrimental effect on the Engine?
I never travel above 70mph if this helps?

Thanks

Mpg has improved since the remap especially at mway speeds (I do 100 mway miles a day).
The engine and clutch are capable of handling more so that's not an issue

Have you had the DPF or EGR deleted?

Also is there any black smoke? I don't really notice my standard to me 118D emitting any Black Clouds.

Thanks again

Excellent will likely give DMS a go. Just awaiting on a response via Facebook...

I'm not risking any DPF or EGR removal/deletion. Too risky in this day and age.

Thanks Kev :D
