so im sure youve all see the adverts for oak furniture land, but i am wondering if any of my fellow babybmw junkies have purchased anything from them?? i was going to, but then stumbled upon the hendred of bad reviews online.. i know myself i would only bother going down the review thing if i had a bad experience just to warm others. but if i had a good experience i wouldnt bother, so just thinking that might be the reason for pretty much only bad reviews online.

any one able to assist with this? are they any good?

I've bought from them on three occasions and and would have no qualms with using them again. All three things were ordered from the website when they have been running a promotion (which I think is a fairly continuous marketing exercise) and delivered directly to my home or my office. I did visit the Lakeside store once and was hounded by three separate sales people, clearly working on commission, and clearly deaf because they didn't listen to what I wanted and tried to sell me something else!

When I ordered a sideboard they emailed us a delivery day, then called on the day to give us an accurate time. The delivery guys were courteous and presentable and took all the packaging with them. One of the handles was slightly marked so I emailed their customer service who arranged for a new handle which arrived within a couple of days.

Two bedside tables were delivered by courier to my office - no problems at all.

Nest of tables again delivered to my office - these could have been better packaged as they had been tossed about between courier vans and the box was battered and split. The tables were undamaged so I had no reason to complain.

What sort of complaints are they getting?

I got the "where do you want it Guv?" so I pointed and left them to it :D

I think for the money you can't go wrong with their stuff. I've bought a wardrobe and chest from a more expensive store recently and although you could argue that it is 'better made' it only does the same job at the end of the day.

yeah I agree although I think most stuff from the like sof BHS, M&S, etc are on a par or less quality than OAK Furniture land

What I have noted is that OAK Furniture are just a distributor - the manufacturer makes these units for a whole host of companies some of which are on ebay trading at higher prices than OFL

Yep. I found a lot of the same stuff with different range names on other websites, most of which was dearer than OFL.

Jared, what are the bad reviews saying?

thanks guys :-)

most of the reviews were along the lines of "took months for it to arrive", "delayed delivery" and "poor quality", "damaged!" and "didnt look like it did in store"

the kind of things im not looking for when purchasing alot of gear from them...

I cannot comment on delivery as we ordered quite in advance before we moved house

The quality IMO is fine but I would suggest the delivery method could lend itself to damage - however its always replaced and the operations team behind the aftersales care is very very good

The items are exactly as they are seen in the shops also - certainly from my perspectice

You have to be aware that anything with drawres will use verners for sides and backs etc but the main areas are definitely ***SPAM*** and come pre-assmbled. The only thing that did was the dinign table whihc weighted a heft 90kg and the legs had to be assembled after un packing

You can add another to the positive reviews!

I got dining room table & chairs and a dresser - got a free massive mirror (worth up to £300) too which was nice!
My only slight negative would be that we ordered it all at the beginning of January and it didn't arrive until March, which I thought was a bit long (although they were upfront about this, and the craftsmanship obviously takes time) - it all arrived on my birthday too which was a plus.

There was a lot of packaging which we had to dispose of, but we made a couple of wendy houses out of the empty boxes for our toddler!

They also didn't have any problems delivering by having to walk across a pedestrian level crossing over the east coast mainline tracks, and some of the boxes were seriously heavy.
