Might be able to get some nice parts reasonably priced :)
Many thanks kind sir! Also, its a good job the Reiger diffuser has already sold, I would have been all over that!

So, in a surprise to absolutely no-one... got the darklines fitted yesterday.

Has to be one of the easiest jobs I've ever done on a car. Its literally 3 nuts, 2 plugs and a plastic trim clip.

Obligatory stock pre-lci E82 rear shot incase you forgot what they looked like:

Obligatory cluster comparison shot:

Obligatory one-of-each installed shot:

Aaaaaaaand...obligatory after shot:

Enjoy! :D

Ticked another job off the list on the car today:

Image

The anti-glare coating on my idrive screen was pretty battered. Unfortunately I didn't take any before pics, but it looked like the previous owner used to keep his/her phone on the shelf in front of the screen and wore straight through the coating.

The remainder of the coating simply polished off with some meguiar's and a microfibre. Even without the coating, the screen is matt and since my car has the oem tinted rear, there is no glare off the screen at all. Result!

Nice!

Mine is pretty scratched up too.
So that coating can be removed by just polishing with a microfibre?

If so, what polish did you use exactly?
Would like to tidy mine up too.

Thanks :)

Thanks man!

Yeah a microfibre (and Q tips for the corners of the screen) plus this:

Image

I was a little concerned that it would be too abrasive for the screen, but it came out fine. It does take a bit of pressure to get the coating off too. Ideally, a purpose made kit would be best, as well as removing the screen from the housing. But I was after a quick fix, and this did the job for me

A few forum posts I read about the removal of the coating recommended a Novus Plastic Polish Kit

Hope this helps!

That's perfect. Thanks a lot for your help. Didn't even realise there was a coating that can be removed.

The scratches on mine having been doing my head in for over a year!!

So, picked the new wheels up today

Image

Given them a good look over and am pretty surprised by the quality. They are Dare DR-RS 18x8 ET40 Front 18x9.5 ET42 Rear

Image
Image

No set of fake splits would be complete without a BBS badge

Image

Test fitted them on the car to see what the increased width/decreased offset would sit like...

Image
Image

Fronts look pretty good fitment wise, should sit nicely once the tyres are fitted.

Image
Image
Image

Rears look like they'll need some modification/narrower tyre to fit properly. I'll probably look at rolling the arches for the rears.

I know these won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm properly chuffed with them, can't wait to get them fitted!!

Umm I'm just going to say not my cup of tea buddy and hope you can get them to fit properly. The rear arches will 100% need rolling, no tyre in the world is going to cure that lol

New wheels are fitted:

Really happy with how they sit, the rear arches only needed a very slight roll to eliminate rubbing. Car will be getting a deep clean this weekend to get it looking smart :D

Great thread and great work on the car, it's really taking shape.

A question regarding the rear lights that you changed to, were they LED Darklines and if so, did they throw up any errors?
