Hey everyone,

Just purchased my first BMW on Sunday and pick it up on Thursday, and thought I would make a thread about it.

Not sure if this car has featured on here before but heres some photos I took from the dealer.

120D M Sport with a few extra bits a bobs. The 208 alloys were a must for me and also 3 door as I'm 20 and don't need a 5 door family car :)

I have a few plans for it in the future but all will be revealed.

Sure ill post up some more pics on Thursday when i pick it up!

Cheers

Thanks for all your kind words guys, really nice to be apart of a large car community again.

So I picked the car up saturday before last, had a few things which needed doing. A previous owner decided to smoke 20 a day in the car so the car stank pretty bad. After a whole bottle of fabrreze and no movement in the smell, i decide to look for a product more specialised in odour removal. Came across the Auto Glym Odour Eliminator. Now I'm not stranger to Auto Glym products, me and my dad have quite a collection, so i didn't hesitate in purchasing it, and after two coats on the interior yesterday, the odour it virtually gone. Epic product!

Done my first mod tonight swell, plasti dipped the front kidneys. A must in my opinion because it makes the car look so much more aggressive!

Still waiting for the V5 to come through so i can put my personal plates on also!

I hope to post regular updates on here because I have lots o plans for this car in the near future!

Heres a few photos of the car over the past week or so.

Next to the fathers M4 Beast!!

LED Sidelights fitted

Tonights antics!

Cheers guys

Looking good! I take it you didn't consider that nice looking black Clio 197 in the background at the dealership?

Cheers mate! Yeah I caught the modifying bug from a young age so I'm doomed forever! And not just yet! To get me insured is over 10k on the M4 so were holding out for a dry day at a local airfield where I can blast it around. Dad's eggar to get me behind the wheel so we shall see what is to come in the near future!

Yup, had a blue one, fantastic car! Many smiles per mile. BMWs are more comfortable though and much better quality. My old 1 series looked a lot like yours, although not the M Sport. Brought back memories looking at all your photos haha!

So not a massive amount has happened since my last post.

Car is going in for the recall to my local dealer on Monday and as I'm 20 I can only get a Mini as a hire car! haha, we shall see what happens with the car at the dealer.

Paintwork needs some attention, lots of scratches and chips so waiting till early next week and i'll be treating myself to some new cleaning products to get the car gleaming. Although the paint is pretty shoddy, still doesn't shine up too bad! :)

Unfortunately I don't think the previous owner looked after the car very well and after a few days of ownership I noticed that the drivers side headlight bulb was loose in the cluster, where someone has just been yanking on the bulb to get it out and therefore bending the metal retainers making them useless therefore resulting in the bulb wobbling around in the headlight. So a cheap fix of gaffa tape sorted it until I purchased a replacement headlight and fitted that.

BMW really do not want you replacing headlights, it was some job removing it, but putting it all back together again wasn't too bad!

Now I know these are marmite in the community but I personally really like them as its not as stupid as an M badge but subtle enough to look cool.

Lastly I'm not massively keen on the silver interior plastic, with dads M4 covered in carbon inside, I thought I would have a go at carbon wrapping the interior parts which I could easily access (will do the gear knob and ashtray in the future) and the end result was pretty good!

Now just to see what surprises BMW have for me on Monday!

Time for another update.

Spent a lot of time on the car over the past couple weeks, the main being a 13 hour paint restoration and detail last Thursday. Not going to bore any of you with all the details but washed, clay bar, swirls removed, polished, waxed... Lots of other little bits in-between. Very impressed with the results, used a mix of Auto Finesse, Auto Glym and Meguairs products.

Paint was in a pretty poor condition once I got in the garage and could inspect it, was very rough so really needed the clay and was covered in swirls however did manage to get 95% of the scratches out. Sure once spring comes along ill go and get rid of the rest, whats important is that now its properly protected from the elements as I don't thin kit had ever been looked after previously.

Heres a few photos:

During the clay, you can really see how poor the paint was in this one

And here are some after shots

And that bead!

And took this today, a week later! Very impressed with the Meguairs gold class wax

Also fancy myself as a bit of a photographer/videographer.

I shoot using a Canon 60D and a range of lenses, took some photos the day after and after a little fettle in photoshop they came out like this

Also i noticed that my headlights seem to be a different colour, the replacement I put in has a silver backing compared to the darker backing on the passenger side? Didn't realise there were different types!

Cheers

Good job on the paint work looks 1000x better.

Looks like you have a pre facelift light for the replacement hence the colour difference

Ahh I see! makes sense now, not too much of an issue, just annoying because I know its there!, not sure how easy these lights are to split, I imagine they're not very easy at all.

And thanks, paintwork is epic now, few deep scratches still in the clear coat but will need an actual machine polisher to get those out and I'm not at that level just yet!

They're near impossible to split! Can be done though but prepare to either melt your light lens or cut your self and swear your head off.

Another thing I noticed today (I don't stand outside much whilst the car is running), the timing chain is very noticeable now i've had the tensioner replaced?!

More worrying thing is that I couldn't hear it before! But decided to get it changed for peace of mind! Just called BMW but service department isn't open till Monday so will wait till then to see what they say. Read a lot of threads saying that it could be the lower tensioner causing the problems now as I know they only replaced the top one, but art they supposed to check both if your car is over 75k kilometres? Mines on 76k Miles...

S***ting myself now, worried that BMW won't care as well. Will wait to see what happens when I call on Monday.

It may settle down. It does look nice mate my 130 was like yours all black. I'm terrible for listening to engine noises as I no the probs with the n54 in mine. generally tho once it's all warmed up and oil nice and warm it goes a lot quieter and the noises disappear. But for peace of mind I would defo give them a ring on Monday mate.
