Hi all,

Just bought an 05 116i and I'm having trouble getting the aux in port to work.
I have plugged in my iPhone via a male to male 3.5mm cable (which works 100% since I have tried it in another car).

How to actually change to AUX in source? It has a business radio.

The change source button on the steering wheel only toggles between radio/CD.

No, just goes radio/CD.
If coding with NCS what option needs to be added to enable AUX again?
Code:
AUX
   aux
CKM
   false
GAL_KURVE
   gal-kurve_3
SOUNDAUSSTATTUNG
   stereo
TP_MINIMAL_VALUE
   wert_0
VOLUME_ADJ
   pl2_stereo
TEL_MINIMAL_VALUE
   wert_0
COUNTRYCODE_RADIO
   ece

Hi. I could just be stupid but I have the same problem, no port option, just radio and cd. What does coding mean? I just want to listen to my music [WEARY FACE]

Coding a car means customizing hidden features that are otherwise not available/accessible to you via your car controls. It also allows you to inform your car that certain features have been added after you retrofitted new parts, which is normally required for your new retrofitted parts to work correctly.

For example, with the BMW 3 series coupe, one cannot roll up the windows with the keyfob remote from the factory. With coding, this feature can be enabled.
Want your alarm to chirp when you lock/unlock the car?
Tired of the legal disclaimer on iDrive startup? It can be turned off with coding.

Hi folks,

I have the professional head unit fitted in my 2005 e87 1 series, I have a 3.5 mm jack under the armrest but I can't get it to play through the stereo? Have I got the same problem re coding?

On the pro HU there is no mode button but there's an audio button.
If I press that the display looks like this:

TUNER CD CDC USB
* - - - - - -

There is no aux option.

Many thanks is advance

i have scoured the web looking for a guide for the e87 to enable the aux in on the bmw business cd radio .

information is a bit scattered so here is my take on it.

the vehicle i was working on was an 05 120d and had an oem aux input.

after i had fixed the initial issue with broken steering lock motor and then ews cas dme mismatch, it came back with aux in mode not showing on the radio.

apparently the aux in function requires some sort of resistor between inputs on the aux cable AND a flag in the radio firmware to enable aux input in the radio menu.

in my case the flag in firmware seemed to have reset to aux off

i did reflash the cas module but this seems a common problem after battery disconnection or flat battery

steps i followed were:

install standard bmw tools inc ncs expert

then loosely following the guide here
deviations from this in CAPS

1. in ncs expert click file then load profile.
select expert mode click ok

2. select f1
then f3
I CHOSE E89 AS I HAD NO E87 OPTION click ok

3.choose cas click ok
select f2
CHOOSE E89 click ok
next box click ok
enter +naux in the attribute box and then press add
then click ok

4. click f6
click f4 choose cas then click ok
click f2 choose fa_write click ok
click f3
exit ncs expert

5.restart ncs expert
click file then load profile
SELECT EXPERT MODE click ok
click f1
click f3 SELECT E89 click ok
select cas click ok
click f6
click f4 SELECT RAD1 click ok
click ok on the popup window
click f2 select CODIERDATEN_LESEN click ok
click f4
close the popup window
minimise ncs expert window
go to your windows desktop

6. navigate to your ncs expert directory usually c:ncsexper
click on the folder and then the work folder contained in it
find FSW_PSW.TRC than open it with notepad
find the line with:
aux
no_aux

delete the 'no_' part then save as (choose type all files) FSW_PSW.MAN

7. go back to ncs expert
click f2 choose SG_CODIEREN click ok
click f3

when that job has finished exit ncs expert , unplug your cable , turn off the ignition.
turn ignition on and for me at least aux function is re-enabled

hope this helps : follow the video just choose the different options i highlighted and you should be ok ;-)

Just wanted to say many thanks for this, just turned aux back on in my dads 135i. Also thanks to MrBubbles. I also had to skip step 3. Adding “+naux” came up with a fault, so skipped this step. Also, Expertmode didn’t work for me, I just got a german message something to do with 2.0 So it wouldn’t load. So I tried it in Dummy mode and it still worked! Hope this helps others. (I know very little about coding or the difference between expert and dummy, I am probably playing with fire but I got the result!)

I've tried to follow this to sort my radio out as its lost the AUX in since being in the garage for some work last week. However my ncsexpert seems to be different and also when I try to add +NAUX it comes up saying its not valid

Error message is:
the following feature is invalid for FA: +NAUX

Any pointers?

Ah my dear rosstucks have I got good news for you! (and anyone facing the same problem). I installed multiple versions of the NCS Expert software and ended up using the one from Bimmer Geeks which has a very detailed tutorial for installation and works in Windows 10: . After this installation it was also clear to me that it did not have the "Expert mode" profile (as had neither of the two other NCS Expert packages I had managed to find via navigating plenty of dodgy websites). Whilst following the amazing tutorial by hairymel above (hairymel, by the way, you're the man!! Thank you so much!) I noticed the same error as yourself, the "the following feature is invalid for FA: +NAUX" message. However, by watching the YouTube video linked by hairymel himself in his step-by-step I noticed the guy in the video mentions something on the lines that "not every car needs this step" which means, I believe, that cars like mine do not need to add the +NAUX as they already have this thing there but is set to not be active. And BANG, once I essentially followed hairymel steps disregarding adding the +NAUX (just not typing +NAUX and pressing "add", but following all the rest) all worked fine, and all using the "Manipulation" profile in my NCS expert (as some forums suggested that the Manipulation profile works the same as the Expert Mode, as it seems).

In summary: If you face the same issue as rosstucks try to follow the tutorial without adding the +NAUX and it (can? should?) work as it worked for me!

Now I can listen to podcasts without an external speaker, and my own music in the car radio! Ah I have been waiting for 6 months since I bought this car for this! hahaha thank you all!

Thanks for this, I didn't think to carry on and skip the step. Luckily I took it back to the garage that messed it up and they recoded it for me but if it happens again I'll know what to do!

Hi all, hopefully someone has an answer for me with my specifc Aux issue.

Same problem as above in that I have no Aux showing when I cycle through modes in my E87. I have followed all the above but get +Naux error code and when carrying on without it I have no 1RAD option to select in ECU.

I've tried selecting RAD2 but this shows aux config as 'mounted' and there is no 'nicht aktiv' against any of the aux entries when I ctrl f.

Anyone got any idea? This is driving me mad and I have a bit of a useless screen installed currently.

Thanks
