Got the B8's and rear brace on yet Dougie?
B8's are on, putting the rear brace on tomorrow.

Running very well :)

That's what I really like about your car Dougie..

All performance and handling improvements.. You haven't bothered trying to tart it up with black bits and neons, just went with the important stuff ;)

Brace Pics for me?! :D

Did you finish that rear-damper 'How To' Boss?

Will get the pics I took put together over the next day or 2.

Yep, once the rear brace is on, only other thing I would consider is replacing the front shocks with Bilsteins as well.

How come you only did the rears Dougie? Are you running factory springs with the B8s? Have to agree with Muz, proper choice of mods.
If I hold on to mine I may look at the BMWP Intake, exhaust and the Quaiffe

Yep, factory springs.

Rear passenger side was gone on the previous shocks. Had only recently replaced the front springs.

In hindsight I should have got it all done at once, but front spring had snapped so just wanted them replaced asap, was not even considering shocks until the rear went.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Would you not think of Eibach Pro springs with the B8s?
I'll be considering when I have some spare cash, probably at the same time as I upgrade the front shockers.

Thread bump! I wanted to ask you about the Bilstein B8s on the rear. There are so many conflicting reviews on various forums that it's impossible to decide which dampers to buy.
Compared to standard M Sport - are the B8's harsh over small road imperfections? I don't mind firm suspension, in fact I'd like the car to be stiffer in roll but I don't want a hard crashy ride.
I'm leaning towards the Koni adjustables purely for comfort reasons but I can't help thinking the monotube Bilsteins are 'better'

Cheers

I've never had anything other than the standard M Sport suspension until a front spring snapped.

Now with Bilstein B8's along with eibach sportlines, I have zero complaints about the ride or handling.

Still pretty firm :) , but far better than standard.

Koni Sport adjustables on softer settings give a far nicer ride than the Bilstein B8 from my findings, the Koni falls inbetween the Bilstein B4 and B8 in terms of comfort and ive used all 3 :) ....currently im just onto some B4 dampers but pondering maybe going back to some Koni Sports as they are a nice damper.

To be honest I haven't heard a single bad review of the Konis. The only thing that puts me off is having to remove the rears to adjust them ( but maybe that's just me being lazy!)
The thing is you read reviews like this about the B12 kit -
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then you see it's only ÂŁ411 from German Ebay...

I'll probably go for the Konis . I like the fact they're adjustable so I can find a balance between smoothness and body control. PS I was on the verge of buying yours a few months ago.. :)

Indeed the Koni adjustable are very good my favourite so far i think, adjusting rear is a bit of a pain but it doesnt take long and once you find the setting you like and you dont need to tweak again, for road use setting zero or maybe+180 is as firm as i found i needed, would like to try them again with my tweaked bumpstop project as per my Suspension quest thread! You can get top adjustable rear Konis (whites) from a TC Kline in USA who modify to be like this along with modding fronts to have height adjustment with custom springs etc. - Link for these added here - " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Bilstein B12 kit is a decent kit and a bargain which i think muddys people opinions imo, if you dont mind a firm ride and/or live somewhere with nice smooth roads its a good setup though, all depends what you want and everyones opinion is different as ive found :)
