Hello all,
Bought my 1 series at the weekend, 57 plate 120d and been snooping round the site ever since so thought i best say hello.

I'll post some pics up when i've given her a clean!

Moved from a Vauxhall Combo (a white van for all those not in the know) had to get rid of it cause the wife was fed up of us not being able to hear each other speak on the motorway... funnily enough we'll be doing a lot less motorway miles now.

Before i ran a van i was driving a Hyundai Accent so as you can Imagen im pretty chuffed!

My 1er has some pretty tiny alloys so looking for some new ones, looking at some MV2's but not sure if they will fit, all advise more than welcome.

Kind Regards

Chris

Hi Folks,

I'm trading in my beloved, but rather tired 2003 Focus ST170 on Friday for a '57 plate 118D 3 door hatch with Dynamic and Comfort packs. This will be my first BMW. I can't wait to get my hands on it, plug in the Bluefin and have a play.

I've spent the last few nights reading your forum and found it very informative so though I'd register and introduce myself. Cheers for all the handy advice I've gleened so far,

Mat D
Milton Keynes

Hello people, and other readers! I'm me and I live here.

I have signed up to this site with a sigh of relief and of pleasure. A car change is due next year and I appreciate the opportunity to read the comments and anecdotes of owners and confirmed fans. You will help me making the right choices when I do get round to ordering my 1 Series coupé. It will be my last new car and it has to be tailored as near as possible to my needs. Now I am sure I will not be alone making those choices. The folk around me here in the real world are all very un-funny about cars, and will give me grief when they see another real pleasure car in the garage. They would be useful help-wise if I wanted to buy a Smart, (my wife has one...), or a sensible hatch with the smallest possible diesel engine.

It feels good to bathe in this virtual pool of enthusiastic and intelligent car fun, with that essential drop of merry lunacy that refines the flavours. Mmm, I love the smell of BMWs in the morning!

Would-be Series 1 owner here from the land of no dealers in mid-Wales. It's nice to find forums like this for more independent advice. Never had a Beemer before; looking like it will be this time.

My name is Mark and I've ordered a 120d (I'll post about that in the order cars thread)

I traded my E46 M3 in for it which I had 2 spent glorious years in. But 20,000 miles a year in an M3 is quite eye watering so it was time to change.

Before that I had a Honda S2000 for 3 years, and a Toyota MR2 Roadster before that.

Hello all!

I am a 44 year old male from Sweden who only one week ago bought a second-hand BMW 118d e87 2008 model with 51000km on the clock. The reason I chose this particular model is because it has an environment classification, thus not being taxed very hard, unless other diesel engines. In Sweden we have an increased tax on diesel cars that are not classified as environmentally friendly. But, despite having this classification it is still a BMW, still very nice to drive and very well put together. My BMW didn't have a satnav fitted, I want one, and that is how I found this forum.

This is not my first BMW, I've had a -92 320 and a -00 330 earlier. The 330 was a delight to drive, but too expensive to own today.

Hello all! Placed my order for a 123d M-Sport Convertible yesterday - now just the long wait until I get it!

Moving from a remapped Focus ST... absolutely love the car, engine, noise, everything, but with petrol costs increasing, my 23mpg  average isn't sustainable. :| Still, had a demo 123d Coupe earlier this week, and I think it's the closest convertible I can get while achieving twice the mpg!

Bit disappointed I couldn't get the Montego Blue in the M-Sport version, had to order the Le Mans Blue - haven't actually seen that colour in the flesh... is it much different? Anyone got any decent pics to compare?

Hi

Another ex ST owner. Welcome. Not quite the same drive as the ST, but the economy more than makes up for it. A remap of the 123d will at least get it close though.

Hello Timmy, good to see you over here - thought you might have snuck in whilst I wasn't looking... ;)

You'll love the 1er, it's a class bit of kit in a completely different league to the ST. What final spec did you go for then chap?

Hi Everyone,

From Australia and was about to get a 123d (M Sport pack and all the mod-cons) but the heard about the as yet un-named M1 and am holding off until I know more details. So if anyone has any recommendations or info (such as spec's on the M1) or the like, on either car, would be great to hear from you.

Cheers
Megz
