Need some help , I have sourced a set of OEM alloys , so now i need to buy some winter tyres the size will be 205/55/16 should i buy RF tyres or non RF , will the RF tyres be suitable for winter use ? . I have RF tyres on my summer alloys which i must say i find to be okay , so any help on this matter would be very helpful. Also some opinions on which tyre make
Thanks in Advance

The only winter tyres I've used have been Vredesteins. I've been happy, they're not expensive and generally seem well regarded. Others seem to like Nokian.

As for RFT/non RFT - up to you. I wouldn't bother because non-RFT are cheaper, but of course you'll need to rely on tyre-foam or something in the event of a puncture.

There are more expensive performance brands, but I'm not really bothered about on-the-limit handling finesse in a winter tyre.

Got a set of Goodyear Ultra Grip 7+ nonRFTs from mytyres last year in 195/55/16 for £300 delivered but not fitted. The same tyre in RFT was £50 more expensive (per tyre). If the difference was smaller, I would go for RFTs. Your size is likely cheaper.

Tyres worked great, with an addition of some weight in the boot. The highlight of the season is seeing van and fiesta or focus stuck in snow, drivers out trying to push each other and seeing the look on their faces when bmw passes by with no problems.

There is a good review on ADAC web site, google translator is sufficient to help with text (just don’t try to translate the whole page),

My 120d came with Runflat tires for both winter and summer, and so far it's proved to be the best rear-drive car I've had when it comes to not getting stuck. In fact I wouldn't say there was much difference between my current car and my previous 120i which had studded winter tires.

I've got 17" Yokohama Iceguard ig20's currently.

Nokian rft winter tyres are terrible. Don't get them at least.
