Hi there,

A few questions if I may

1. Anyone know of a similar site for the 3 series?
and
2. I have my 3 series on a lease (first time leaser) can I ask peoples experiences when they went in to change their car, again on a lease

Thanks

Hi Shady, firstly welcome aboard :fest: now to the questions

1, assuming your 3 series is newish (as its on lease) it will be an e90 the this site http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=22

2, Not quite sure what you mean by your second question, could you elaborate a bit more please

Re question 2.

its my first time leasing a car, and i've just got the letter to say I only have a few months left, I thought i got a goodish deal really, but how do you stand when you trade in? are people happy with whet they get offered for their cars?

Would be good to have some advice

Ok I understand now. The thing to do is go round several local dearlers and get an idea of your p/x price, you should be offered the market price assuming the condition is good etc. After you have got a few prices it is well worth ringing a dealer out of area for a valuation over the phone. Clearly you will have to discribe your car accurately i.e. tyres depths, bodywork condition mileage to next service and so on. As a family we are now on our 6th BMW in 8 years and only 1 came from a localish dealer, all the others have come from all over the place and all from main dealers. If you are prepare to some leg work then you will be surprised how the deals can differ

When you say "lease" do you mean a private agreement between you and a lease company, standard payment every month for 2-3 years and just give the car back? Or do you mean downpayment, monthly payment and a final payment to own the car?

You mentioned "what you get offered for their Cars" so I assume you mean you are in the process of buying the car but want to exchange it early?

Thanks Chompers, that’s the kind of info I’m after. I’ll try those tips, just doing some home work as I also may have been mislead by the salesman, which makes me a little frustrated as I’m usually pretty good with things like this.
Some more questions if I may,

I was told there was no mileage limit, unless I wanted to hand the car back and walk away, which I don’t, but reading the agreement which doesn’t seem that clear talks about 8000 miles a year, if so I’m 300 over, will I get charged the 6p per mile if I swap my current car for another lease?

With my lease being with BMW can I go to any dealer or do I have to use one of the franchise dealers or can I go to any BMW dealer, I remember when I was sold the car the salesman saying i had to return to them??? Maybe a sales pitch?

Mck, my lease is with BMWFS, I would like to change my 320d M sport for a 120d M sport, I have the option to buy but I would only do this if I was offered a bad price as the final payment is quite high for me and don’t want the hassle of having to sell a 3 yr old car.

Becky bmw, sounds like your having a bad time, have you spoken to the ombudsman?

Shady, I think you have got things mixed up a little. The mileage penalty will only apply if you hand the car back and walk away not the other way round as you put it. You can go to any BMW dealer to change p/x the 320d your agreement is with BMWFS not the dealer you bought it from. I take it from your first post that you are near the end of your current agreement and have a Final figure for your car to pay. What ever you get over and above that figure is yours to put down as a diposit on the new 120d. I would think that there are some pretty good deals around at the moment so drive hard for a good deal. What part of the country are you in by the way?

Think that covers thing for now but fire away with any other questions you may have

Sorry for the delay, Just got home from Goodwood, for anyone who hasnt been its well worth a visit

Thanks for clearing that up, thats what I thought, then reading my agreement, it confused me a little.

I have 5 month remaining, got a letter explaining my options with the final figure. I'm in East Yorkshire and I've found we dont get the best deals around here, when I got my 320 I found a better deal in Lincoln then returned to my local dealer where they matched it.

I really appreciate your feedback, Thanks very much

Hi again,

Going in tomorrow to have a look at some figures, I’ve had a look at very similar age/spec/mileage cars on the BMW web site and they seem to be going between £17000 and £19000. I appreciate the dealer makes money on a trade in, but does anyone have a rough idea what i may be offered?

id have a look at parkers / glasses used car price guide (glasses you have to pay £3.50) but that is basically what they use in the trade.

were you not given a figure telling you a guaranteed figure on p/x when you took out your finance?

Well as expected it was nowhere near what they are going for as approved used cars, (£14000)

Looks like time to do some serious research
